A lot of the combat for AoD Atlas Of Discovery is locked behind both the Cartography and Archaeology skills so progress those if you have locked combat areas/dungeons.
Frequent skill swapping is a lot more important than in Melvor base game, so if you are struggling to progress try leveling some non-combat skills first.

This Guide is NOT designed with the Ancient Relics Game Mode in mind. Players looking for more information about that Game Mode should visit the Ancient Relics Guide. There is also the Barrier Guide which can be used as an alternative to this guide.
Skill Trees are also extremely important, make sure you are acquiring the buffs as those points come in to make progression significantly faster.

A simplistic order for completing AoD Combat:

Barrier Combat
The primary mechanic added to the game in Atlas of Discovery is Barrier, a powerful shield that is entirely immune to player attacks while active. In order to break barriers, the player must utilize Summoning Familiars that deal damage such as the Golbin Thief or Unicorn. Clear speed will be almost entirely determined by how fast you can break the Barrier so make sure to prioritize summon max hit in your builds.

Higher hit chance weapons are strongly recommended during the entire combat section, unless the alternative is required for Damage Reduction or the alternative simply does more damage. This is because the familiar's hit-chance is based on the player's hit chance, the higher the hit chance, the better.

Stats and Buffs
Having progressed through TotH Throne of the Herald and Atlas of Discovery Atlas of discovery combat will make ItA Into the Abyss significantly easier. This is due to TotH powerful starting potions from Herblore, Agility bonuses, Astrology bonuses and Summoning familiars. AoD also has many benefits such as the Point's of interest added which give many useful combat buffs, some of the Unholy Items can be useful too.

gem Gem Slot
Make sure to run in Combat Simulator to find out what to use! These are just recommendations.

A new gem gem equipment slot has been added which allows you to squeeze out higher summon max hit damage with gems like Devouring Barrier Gem or give various non Barrier modifiers such as the Agile Gem which reduces player attack interval.
Starting Gear
Points of Interest
Recommended gear to get before starting:

Another mechanic added is Points of Interest. Once mastered in Cartography, they can be travelled to to give the player both positive and negative modifiers.
Melvor Base Game
Reccomended points of interest to use for combat are:
*Scaled Shield
*Shield of Ranged Power

* Unhallowed Wasteland for respawn timer reduction
TotH Throne of the Herald
* Dark Waters for melee
* Bandit Hideout for ranged
* The Academia Arcanum for magic

These can also be simulated in the Combat Simulator to avoid the expensive travel costs.
*Blazing Helmet
*Perfect Sight Legs
*Superior Max Skillcape
*Voodoo Trinket

Unholy Prayers
AoD Atlas of Discovery
Unfortunately Unholy Prayers were nerfed so don't worry about those.

Stats and Buffs
Summoning
Having progressed through TotH combat will make  Atlas of Discovery combat significantly easier. This is due to the huge damage increase in the Spectre compared to Tortoise, the summon set from Necromancers Palace and the endgame weapons from Golden Cloud Mountains.
There are a few useful summoning synergies to have before you get Abyssal Familiars:
* TotH Fox (worse Melvor Centaur)
* TotH Siren
* TotH Occultist

Summoning
Herblore
There are two main summoning synergies to use for Barrier focused combat:
* TotH Critical Strike Potion IV +20% crit chance
* TotH Summoning Spectre for huge summoning max hit damage
* ItA Shadeveil Potion IV +20% crit chance and +50% chance to apply Shadeveil when critically hitting with an attack
* Summoning Tortoise if you haven't unlocked the above synergy

Roughly in order of unlock. Be sure to look at dungeon/stronghold guides.

Collect the first three god sets from: Air God Dungeon, Water God Dungeon and Earth God Dungeon. Collecting the fire god set from Fire God Dungeon will also be helpful but not strictly required. It is only for endgame clear speed improvement when you have enough damage reduction already.

Enhancements
Ensure you have the following armour from Necromancers Palace. This will be BIS save for a few items near the end of Atlas of Discovery:
Enhancements are very useful for both non-combat skilling and combat. They are obtained from Strongholds. Before starting it is recommended that you acquire all four Melvor melvor realm enhancements:
* Hood of Shade Summon
# Undead Enhancement (Superior)
* Amulet of Curse Totem Summon
# Dragon Enhancement (Superior)
* Gloves of Greater Shade Summon
# Magic Enhancement (Superior)
* Ring of Phantom Summon
# Gods Enhancement (Superior)

Collect the three weapons from Golden Cloud Mountains as these are the BIS for most Atlas of Discovery encounters:
ItA Abyssal Stronghold enhancements will be acquired as progress is made in the expansion:
* Agile Wings Rapier
# Blighted Enhancement (Superior)
* Feather Storm Crossbow
# Fear Enhancement (Superior)
* Slicing Maelstrom Wand

After collecting the first three god sets from: Air God Dungeon, Water God Dungeon and Earth God Dungeon the player will be well equipped to start combat. Immediate goals are to begin gathering Barrier damaging equipment. The first gear the player will get is actually from the Ancient Market in Archaeology. Remember Cartography and Archaeology are crucial to progressing AoD Atlas Of Discovery combat.
Remember to check Dungeon guides before attempting to ensure you meet the minimum requirements! Or just use Combat Simulator if you have that.

The main goal of late game is to find Melantis, collect the three weapons from Underwater Ruins, finishing Underwater City and then acquiring endgame clear speed items for the subsequent pet farms.
This is mostly preparing for The Final Depth. Creating the EXalted Ornament of Destruction, Illusion, Umbra & Sorcery will take a while requiring a lot of amulets from various enemies. You can check the elite amulet then regular amulets to see the best enemies to farm. The following guide takes the player through the combat of the
