There is no right or wrong way to progress in the game, and you will rarely, if ever, be punished for experimenting. Melvor Idle is about the journey not the destination. This guide gives one method for how to start your Melvor Idle journey. The goal is to give players a helping hand in the early stages of the game. It is not a complete walkthrough, nor optimal for all play styles.

Introduction
Why not to use this guide?
This page presents one of the possible ways to start your Melvor journey. Please note that the instructions below are for the Standard and Game Modes. For , please refer to Adventure/Guide.
This guide is intended for Standard and Game Modes:
*If you are playing gamemode then please refer to the Adventure/Guide.
*If you are playing AoD Ancient Relics gamemode then please refer to the Ancient Relics/Guide.

The goal of the provided steps is to give you a helping hand in the early stages of the game, and introduce you to the basic concepts of the game and some inter-skill synergies. It is not guaranteed that this is the fastest method, nor is there a right or wrong way to progress in the game. Therefore, new players are encouraged to try a larger diversity of skills as soon as they feel more comfortable with the basics.
Before you start
In general:
* You should expect some parts of these guide to take many days and weeks to complete, so feel free to deviate from the guide at any time.
* Melvor Idle has true offline progression, when the game is opened after being turned off, it will automatically calculate the difference in time and reward all progress made in the time spent offline up to 24 hours.
** If you find the 24 hour timespan too limiting, it can be extended with the "Unlimited Offline" Mod. Longer periods of inactivity may lead to long load times.
** Mods to any game always come with inherent risk, use your own discretion before downloading mods and keep regular backups.

This page is inspired by the following reddit post.
Skills That Buff Other Skills
Steps
These skills are mostly centered around "if you invest in this skill, other skills will get stronger". Some of these skills also provide some direction about what order to work on other skills, because the bonuses that work on other skills unlock in a specific order. For the sake of simplicity, this section only discusses non-combat bonuses. See the full skill pages for how they provide buffs for combat skills.

# Level Astrology until level 20 to unlock , then continue training on this constellation until level 80 Mastery. Doing so will provide access to 3 basic modifiers and 2 unique modifiers from Ameria, which can then be activated and then upgraded by consuming Stardust and Golden Stardust. All of these bonuses are good, however, be aware that the cost *doubles* for each upgrade you purchase. For now, we recommend not purchasing past upgrade 5-6 for Stars that cost  or past level 3-4 for Stars that cost
A far more comprehensive list of what skills do can be found in the Beginners Guide.
#* For Stardust modifiers, be careful upgrading past star level 5-6
#* For Golden Stardust modifiers, be careful upgrading past star level 3-4
#* You can always come back for more bonuses later!
# Train Woodcutting by following as many of the steps outlined below as you're able to until you obtain one Mark of the Ent, then craft Ent tablets until about Summoning. Use these tablets in Woodcutting (using tablets grants more XP than crafting them) until Summoning and you receive five more Mark of the Ent to unlock the Ent/Octopus Synergy (You can see all possible Summoning here). Train Fishing until you receive one Mark of the Octopus.
#* Axe upgrades should be purchased as soon as possible, as they significantly decrease the amount of time required to cut all trees.
#* Open any Bird Nest, plant the seeds you're able to in Farming, and sell any seeds you're not able to plant. If able, always use Weird Gloop when planting seeds.
#* No matter what you're doing, try to ensure you always have tablets equipped, even if this means temporarily stopping whatever skill you are doing to create some more. Having a Summoning that works in the skill you're training increases the amount of Summoning XP you gain per action. Summoning can be fairly expensive and unintuitive at first, however, as you collect higher level resources, you will use less of each to make each batch of tablets, making them significantly easier over time.
# Train Fishing with Ent and Octopus until Summoning, then train Cooking until you find a total of six mark of the Pig. Remember to craft at least one batch of Pig to be able to find more than one mark.
# Train Fishing with Octopus and Pig equipped until both the Ancient Ring of Skills and Ancient Ring of Mastery have been acquired. It is likely that Fishing will have been reached by the time this happens due to the rarity of these rings.
#* Use the raw fish you catch to create Octopus and the cooked fish you earn from the synergy to create Pig. All summoning tablets have a dropdown box to select recipe, changing the type and quantity of resources consumed per action. Some resources cannot be used to create tablets. Once you start making more raw and cooked fish than you need to create tablets, sell the excess.
#* Open any Treasure Chest, equipping the Amulet of Fishing if it drops as this reduces the catch time for all fish.
#* Fishing Rods also provide a significant decrease to catch time and should be purchased as soon as they become available.
#* Keep any Diamond gained along the way as these are required for a number of highly desirable things later, notably Diamond Luck Potion and the Ice Jump Agility obstacle.
#* Sell everything else acquired while Fishing, which should provide enough GP to fund fishing rod upgrades, the Multi-Tree upgrade for later, and any other purchases such as additional bank slots.
#* Once you've obtained a decent amount of of GP, you can begin saving any Diamond, Emerald, and Sapphire obtained from fishing, as these will be useful for creating Devil tablets later, and for various other skills further down the line.
#* If possible, all gems can reasonably be saved at this point, and only sold in small quantities if necessary.
#: <br/>Catching the following fish is suggested:
#* , below Level 99, your fish selection should always be the highest XP/h fish.
#* Raw Whale for GP and eventually so they can be cooked into valuable food and Cooking XP, or turned into Summoning tablets.
#* Raw Magic Fish are worth approximately 1% more more GP/h than whales. However, whales also serve many purposes beyond raw GP, as they will be useful for leveling Cooking, can be eaten in Combat, used as a resource for an Agility Obstacle, and can be a valuable resource for creating Wolf and Pig Tablets. Fishing whales with the Octopus and Pig synergy is worth significantly more GP than Magic Fish. While they do have an innately high special chance, once whales are unlocked, Raw Magic Fish are not recommended as they will not help you advance in any other skills.
#* Raw Skeleton Fish, which can be redeemed for Prayer points, and have an 8% base chance to obtain a special item.
#* Raw Seahorse if you are very low level, and don't care about anything but the highest number of special rolls per hour, which maximizes the chance of acquiring both rings. This doesn't apply if you are able to catch Raw Skeleton Fish or have reached Fishing to massively improve your GP gains with the Fishing Skillcape.
# Consume any Mastery Token (Fishing) acquired to increase your Mastery. When your Fishing mastery pool exceeds 95%, you can start spending your mastery pool to increase your Mastery level for individual fish. First, level all fish to at least level 20, then focus spending on whichever fish you're currently working on, if it is below 88 Mastery.
#* Level 88 Mastery is an approximate point where spending mastery pool becomes inefficient, while you can use the pool to level an item higher than 88, it is recommended at that point to simply train the item until it hits 99 and spend your pool on other, lower leveled items.
#* Higher total Mastery levels across all items and all skills increase the rate at which you obtain certain rare items, so your first goal when hitting above 95% Pool in any skill should be to level as many items as possible as high as possible.
# Train Astrology further. Equip the Ancient Ring of Mastery and study until level 80 Mastery. Once reached, purchase modifiers as you see fit:
#* For Stardust modifiers, be careful upgrading past star level 5-6
#* For Golden Stardust modifiers, be careful upgrading past star level 3-4
#* Remember! You can always come back for more bonuses later!
# Alternate between training Woodcutting and Firemaking. Equip the Ancient Ring of Skills before starting. The ultimate goal here is Firemaking to unlock the Firemaking Skillcape. Before getting too deep into woodcutting, be aware of the Clue Chasers Insignia; this amulet counts for completion, is very useful for skilling, and requires exact, low numbers of Redwood Logs and Maple Logs logs, as a result it is likely best to simply skip Maple Logs at this point.
#* Axe upgrades should be purchased as soon as possible, as they significantly decrease the amount of time required to cut all trees.
#* Skip Magic Logs due to the long cut time. This means using Multi-Tree to simultaneously cut Redwood Logs and Yew Logs logs.
#* Having Ent and Octopus equipped will increase the number of Bird Nest dropped and continue to grant you more summoning XP.
#* If you have reached Summoning, as soon as you obtain one Mark of the Devil you can begin to craft them and use them for Firemaking to increase your summoning XP/action considerably and your Firemaking XP/h.
#* Open any Bird Nest dropped for seeds, then begin training Farming. Once started, any planted seeds will grow in the background while training any other skill. Keep Strawberry Seeds for Gentle Hands Potion used in Thieving, and keep Watermelons for Agility.
#* Save any Redwood Logs gained as these should be turned into Dragon Javelin later, burning only up to and including Yew Logs to achieve Firemaking.
#* Manually lighting bonfires is not recommended. Although doing so will increase the Firemaking Skill XP gained, this is very manual to maintain and uses significantly more logs. Lighting bonfires automatically by using Controlled Heat Potion is however highly recommended if you are able to reach Herblore by creating only Bird Nest Potion, requiring Garum Herb from Farming and Potato Seeds from Bird Nest to create.
#* After reaching Firemaking, train Agility until level 10 is reached. This will allow the Monkey Bars Agility obstacle to be created, providing a 4% decrease to the Firemaking interval.
#* After reaching Woodcutting<!--This is not a typo, the obstacle requires level 30 but also uses Teak logs to build, meaning for this guide the effective level requirement is 35--> and Firemaking, training Agility once more, this time until level 20 is reached for the purpose of creating the Stepping Stones obstacle. This obstacle provides both a 6% decrease to Woodcutting interval and a 3% increase to Firemaking skill XP.
# Train Astrology once more, this time until Astrology is reached in order to unlock many more bonuses. Purchase any modifiers as you see fit, however try not to spend too much dust until all constellations are Mastery level 99, at which point all modifiers will be unlocked.

At this point, you have both ancient rings (providing +8% Skill or Mastery XP, depending on which is equipped), the Firemaking Skillcape (providing +5% Skill XP to all skills), and a variety of other bonuses from Astrology and Agility.
If you wish to see how Skills effect other Skills please expand the column below.

The choices on what path to take next start to open up, some suggestions are:

This is where any saved Redwood Logs from Woodcutting will be used. This will also allow you to spend any Maple Logs in order to have the correct amount for the Clue Chasers Insignia.
* Agility to unlock further obstacles, providing additional bonuses. Reaching any further than obstacle 5 or 6 may be difficult initially however, due to the significant cost of obstacles and various level requirements.

Before Settling on Desired Gameplay
Before we get into the actual different ways to play. It is advised to get a feel for the game and how each skill works / interacts with other skills by leveling each skill to around Level 30-40. Once done, you should have a better understanding of how the game works. The core game mechanics won't really change much at higher levels, just a bit more complex interactions. The process of leveling each skill to around level 35 should take only a few hours. Switch to Astrology if in doubt about where to go next.

# Open the Township menu and select a worship. Aeris grants the most useful benefits of the various gods.
#* Township is trained passively and will be important later, however, completely ignore it for now.
# Train Astrology until at least level 40.
#* Buy the the first 5 levels of the first Star (the ones that give accuracy) in each Constellation (Deedree, Iridan, Ameria, Terra and Vale) if you have enough Stardust.
#* This will grant 5% Skill experience and Mastery experience in Woodcutting, Farming, Smithing, Fishing, Firemaking, Mining as well as 15% Global Accuracy and 5% Experience in Attack and Strength
# Train Woodcutting and Summoning at the same time.
#* Summoning is a very important skill that benefits all your other skills, and it is leveled by equipping and using Summoning Familiars (tablets). It levels slowly while training other skills, and cannot really be sped up, making it an important skill to train early.
#* Train Woodcutting until you get your first mark of the Ent.
#* Sell some of your logs and use the money to buy Summoning Shard (Green) to make Ent tablets.
#* Repeat (remember to change to Oak Logs and Willow Logs as they become available) until Summoning.
# Next, train Fishing and Cooking (and more Summoning).
#* The goal here it to gain enough GP to purchase the Shop upgrades for the first Black Axe, Black Fishing Rod, Black Pickaxe, Octopus and Pig tablets, as well as some extra bank slots.
#* Once you get to roughly Fishing you should get enough GP to upgrade the Fishing Rod to the Black Fishing Rod.
#* Train Fishing until you get your first mark of the Octopus.
#* Sell all Junk and about half of the fish, then make and equip some Octopus tablets.
#* Continue training Fishing until Summoning.
#* Train Cooking using the fish caught in Fishing until you get your first mark of the Pig (Requires Summoning to drop).
#* Make sure to save 300 Raw Herring and 300 Raw Salmon for the next section.
# Finally, train Agility.
#* This skill has bonuses for Woodcutting, Cooking, Agility, Herblore, Firemaking, Mining at low levels.
#* Switching Agility Obstacles can be quite pricy at these levels, especially before you have a good source of income. Choose a single obstacle in each tier and leave them for now, optimizing Agility itself can come later.
#* At Agility build Pit Jump as your Tier 3 obstacle with the fish you saved from the previous step. See the next section for more options in Agility.
# Follow these basic outlines to level rest of the skills to Level 30. Some Artisan Skills may pose an issue as the raw materials may not be accessible yet, come back to these later.

There are several ways to earn GP in this Game. Below are some suggestions on how you can obtain them effectively.
The first 2500000 should go to Auto Eat, Multi-Tree, and a pair of Gem Gloves

Thieving||54 / 57 / 77|| At appropriate levels Thieving provides very good income, but requires a bit of investment in the form of Gloves of Silence or Thieving Gloves, as well as time spent in Thieving to obtain the Chapeau Noir, Golbin Mask, Thiever's Cape, Sneak-Ers. Enabling the "Continue Thieving on Stun" option if you have plenty of Food available
Fishing||??|| Fishing is an easy and accessible method to grind out the first few millions.
Mining||0|| Low Level Mining with Gem Gloves can provide passive income while mining, as well as providing raw gems for Crafting
AoD Mining||85||With AoD, Mining becomes a serious contender for early GP. Pure Crystal sells for 750 each, which racks up quickly. Perfect Swing Potion multiplies how much effective HP the rock has, and helps the player mine for much longer before waiting for the rock to respawn.

With this minor preparation of our skills, we're now ready to start choosing a way to play the game, be it Skilling or Combat you should be set for both!

Ways To Play The Game
There are several ways to play the game, depending on your goals and preferred gameplay. Here are some suggested ways to play the game and a guide on how to do it.

*Laid back: Only logging in once/twice per day or at least not actively playing, knowing what to set your offline times to and what to do when online.
*Combat Focus for Max efficiency with Throne of the Herald/Atlas of Discovery: road to 100% completion. This will be combat focused, since it involves leveling as little non-combat as possible to rush Harold, after which skills and item collection will be done.

Laid Back
This Guide is aimed at people that don't have a lot of time, or don't want to log in more than once or twice a day.
If you have 10-20 minutes to play and want to do something else than is suggested here, feel more than free to do so, the majority of these things will take a long time, 10 to 30 minutes won't impact the overall progress that much.

# We start off with a little preparing to do some minor Combat.
#* This is where our Combat section starts. If time is of importance, it is suggested you progress through the Steps #2-5 until you want to take a break from the game. Continue on with step #6 until you feel like revisiting these Steps at a later time.
# Level Mining to Level 50. This gives us access to Mithril Ore.
#* Save all the Ore you mine for the next step.
# Level Smithing to Level 57. - Has a minimal Guide here.
#* At Smithing Smith 2x Mithril Helmet, 1x Mithril Platebody, 2x Mithril Platelegs, 2x Mithril Boots, Mithril Gloves and a Mithril Sword
#** Turn 1 set of these items in for Normal Township Task #1, this rewards a (G) Mithril Platebody and (G) Mithril Shield, saving you some time needing to gather the Silver Bar and Gold Bar.
#** Upgrade the Mithril Helmet, Mithril Platelegs and Mithril Boots to (G) by pressing Upgrade in the bank (orange button on the right). The first step requires a certain amount of Silver Bar and the second upgrade will require Gold Bar after both those upgrades are done the items gain the Damage Reduction stat too. Gloves have no upgrades but do provide Evasion Rating.
#*** This will require and .
# Sell all the Crafted Smithing Items and sell all the rest of your Ores.
#* This should get you closer to 1000000.
#** Either go Fishing or mine Crystal in Mining (Requires the AoDAtlas of Discovery Expansion) until you reach 1000000
#** Once 1000000 has been obtained, buy Auto Eat from the Shop.
#** If you still have some food from leveling Fishing to Level 30, equip the food and you're ready for some Combat.
#** If you're out of Food Fish up some Shrimp and cook those in Cooking so they can be eaten.
#** To consume food, it must first be equipped through the Bank and then selected using the food drop-down menu on the Combat or Thieving page.
#** If you skipped the "Level everything to Level 30" step, Craft some Bronze Equipment and level all your Melee Combat Skills to Level 5, then craft some Steel Equipment and level your Combat Skills to Level 20. Chicken, Cow or Golbin are your suggested Targets. They don't do too much Damage and have relatively little Health.
#** The suggested target for now is the Master Farmer. He drops Seeds which will be needed for Farming. With Auto Eat and Hitpoints Level 30 this should be completely safe as long as you don't run out of food. Killing Master Farmer will Auto Eat around per hour. If you have higher healing food than Shrimp you will be using less than 420 per hour.
# Plant a few of your found Seeds in Farming Farming Plots.
#* Be sure to this once every so often to passively Level Farming.
#** If you run out of Seeds that you can plant, you can always get more from the Master Farmer.
# Astrology is our next Skill.
# The first large goal is to reach Astrology, this increases Mastery and Stardust gains.
#* Start with Deedree and work your way up through the other Constellations when they unlock.
#* If they're close to Level 80 Mastery it will be worth waiting a little while then switch as soon as they reach Level 80 Mastery.
#* Once you're Astrology buy the Astrology Skillcape from the Shop and equip it.
#* Keep training Astrology until all Constellations are at least Level 80 Mastery, this allows you to Purchase 5 of the 6 Stars.
#** There are a few Constellations where it's worth to Level them all the way to 99 Mastery and Purchase all the stars, those are: Iridan, Terra, AoDNysa, Arachi and Ko.
#* If the TotHThrone of the Herald Expansion is owned, this skill can go to Level 120.
#** In which case it's worth sticking to Astrology.
#** Haemir’s benefits aren't all that useful at this point, however it does give the most xp/h so it's only purpose is to level Astrology faster if you're not at Level 110 yet.
#*** If you're already at Astrology you can completely ignore Haemir, the rewards from this Constellation will not provide any bonuses for now.
#** Rosaniya is a very good Constellation and should be fully maxed to 99 Mastery and Purchase all the stars.
#** Ashtar is also extremely powerful, but can be skipped until you start combat. If you do combat in the times you are online, it is highly recommended you max out this Constellation to 99 Mastery too and Purchase all the stars.
# The next step is to make some GP
#* This is the start of the Money Making Method, for an alternative Method go here
#** It is still advised you start by following the Woodcutting, Fishing and Cooking steps first. As the other Method will take time to set up.
#* We start by Woodcutting.
#* Keep Woodcutting until you find the Ent Mark
#** Craft Ent Tablets until you're out of wood.
#*** You'll need to buy some Summoning Shards from the Shop, which you should have enough GP for from selling all the stuff you got from leveling everything to Level 30.
#*** You will need to craft at least 1 Tablet to be able obtain more Marks for the same Familiar.
#*** Equipping the Tablet doubles your chances of getting Marks.
#* After the Ent tablets have been crafted, equip them.
#* Then continue Woodcutting until you find Ent.
#* Don't Sell your Normal Logs for now. Keep in the Bank, they will be needed later.
# Fishing is our next target.
#* Start by buying the Iron Fishing Rod from the Shop for 100.
#* Buy further Fishing Rod upgrades when they unlock at Levels 10, 20, 35, 50, 60 and 80.
#* Fish the highest experience Fish you can, there is a list of the experience/second to be referenced here. Alternatively you can installed the "ETA" Mod which will tell you exactly how much Experience per Hour you'll get on each Fish.
#* Just pick the highest one until you get to Shark then keep fishing Shark until Fishing
#* Open any Treasure Chest you get in the hopes of getting a Amulet of Fishing. Equip it as soon as you find one.
#* When a Pirates Lost Ring is found, you should also Equip it as soon as possible.
#** At Fishing it is best to switch to Manta Ray until Fishing
#** At Fishing it is best to switch to Whale
#* Keep Fishing until you find a Octopus Mark
#** Make a bunch of Octopus Tablets and Equip them in the other slot than where Ent is equiped
#*** 2 different Familiars together offer what is called a Synergy, when the Synergy is active the arrows in between the 2 Familiars will turn Green. This means the Synergy is active, it will use 1 Skill Related Tablet per action (in this Case Octopus) and when the Synergy is Active it will use an additional Related Tablet and 1 Synergy Companion Tablet, so in short, it will use 2 Octopus and 1 Ent as soon as the Synergy is active.
#**** Synergies require Summoning to be a certain Level, their current Level can be viewed in the Summoning Menu. In this Case with Octopus and Ent it will require both Marks to be Level 2. As soon as you find enough Octopus Marks for another Level, the Synergy will activate.
#** Keep Fishing until your Summoning reaches Level 25 and your Octopus is Mark Level 3.
# Start by Cooking the Fish you caught in Fishing.
#** We're looking for Pig Marks here
#** Once you receive your first Mark, craft some Pig Tablets and continue Cooking.
#** Keep Cooking your Fish until your Pig is Mark Level 3.
#*** If you run out of Fish you can buy Bag of Flour and turn those into Bread.
#*** For this the Basic Furnace will be needed. If your Pig is already at Mark Level 3, you can skip these steps for now and move on to point #6 .
#**** Go to Firemaking and burn to reach Level 15.
#**** Mine and in Mining.
#**** Smelt in Smithing
#**** Purchase the Shop Upgrade Basic Furnace
#The Pig will give a 75% chance to give you a Cooked version of the Fish you're fishing.
#* Keep Fishing selling all the Raw and Cooked fish you obtain. Your goal is around 47000000 to prepare for Agility
#* You can also keep Fishing for more GP to buy some Bank Slots. How many slots is up to the Player, a minimum of 100-150 would be suggested.
# This is also a good time to upgrade to Auto Eat - Tier II for 5000000 and then Auto Eat - Tier III for 20000000. This makes your Auto Eat more effective.
# Visit Township and check out the Tasks some are quite easy to do and very worth your time.
#* You can buy Bar Box I, Wood Box I and Herb Box I after completing 40 Tasks and having Level 40 in the relevant skill. These boxes will help a lot while leveling Smithing, Fletching and Herblore.
#* Now that you have a way to make GP start investing in your Town. Build buildings that increase your resource generation.
#** You can't completely mess up your Town, if you don't notice in time that one of your resources is running low and you're not producing very much of it, all that it is gonna do is cost you time. Production of resources never falls to 0 so you will be able to build some buildings eventually. It just might take time.
#** Looking up a Guide for how to build your Town is not needed, almost all guides relating to that are from before the rework of Township and are no longer relevant.
# If AoDAtlas of Discovery Expansion is owned Agility is next.
#* There is a whole list of items and Skill Requirements for this. This Guide will not go in detail where to obtain the items, you can click the items to view their sources and requirements.
#* The 3 required skills and Fishing have Guides next to them with tips on how to Level them,.
#* Keep in mind that things like Agility Skillcape and the Mastery will lower the cost of items. These reductions are not calculated in these item requirements.
#*
#*
#*
#*
#*
#* - Obtainable from 6The Vibrant Coral Gardens.
#*
#*
#* 250000
#** Visit 4Shrouded Horizon for 50000
#** Visit 22Dragon Valley for 50000
#** Visit 8Shrouded Badlands for 150000
#* Archaeology - Has a Guide here
#* Cartography - Has a Guide here
#* Fishing - Should already be covered in previous Steps.
#* Mining - Has a Guide here
#* Firemaking - Has a Guide here
#* Now to actually start Agility
#* Build Cargo Net
#* At Agility build River Crossing and continue training Agility. Build Balance Beam if AoD is not owned.
#* At Agility build Pipe Climb and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Gap Jump and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Mountain Climb and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Tree Balance and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Heat Trap and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build A Lovely Jog and continue training Agility. If AoD is not owned, this is where we stop. Skip to step #17.
#* At Agility build Ocean Drifting.
# The next Skill is Cartography
#* Visit This Wiki Page for more information on how to level it.
#* The goal here is Cartography and Full Hex Mastery.
#* If AoD is NOT owned, skip this step and go to step #19.
# Continue training Agility
#* At Agility build Waterfall and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Pillar of Skilling - Requires and .
#* If TotHThrone of the Herald Expansion is owned, we continue to Agility.
#* For this the following items and Skill Levels will be required.
#** Smithing - Has a minimal Guide here.
#** Mining - Has a minimal Guide here
#** Fishing - Has a Guide here if needed.
#** Woodcutting - Has a Guide here.
#**
#**
#**
#**
#**
#**
#* At this point it is advised you level Crafting to Level 115 for access to Stamina Pouch.
#** You can get Basic Bag from Thieving or if you have the AoDAtlas of Discovery Expansion the better choice is to dig up Ancient Woven Bags from Bazaar (Medium) and turn those in to Basic Bag in Crafting.
#* To continue Agility. These aren't the most effective Obstacles but they are the easiest to build.
#* At Agility build Pit Maze and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Forest Jog and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Ice Trap and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Forest Climb and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Water Dive and continue training Agility.
#* At Agility build Elite Pillar of Expertise
# The final Skill covered in this Guide is Firemaking.
#* Has a Guide here.
#* Firemaking has 2 main benefits that effect almost all other Skills.
#** The Firemaking Skillcape grants 5% increased experience when worn. (8% for the Superior Firemaking Skillcape).
#** The second benefit is Mastery.
#*** The Mastery threshold grant 5% Mastery bonus.
#*** Every Log brought to Mastery grant an additional 0.25% bonus Mastery.
# This is where the Guide ends. Feel free to look up how to level other Skills by visiting their Guides.
#* The order in which Skills get leveled does not matter a whole lot, as the remaining Skills don't have Global Bonusses. There is however a relationship between Gathering and Artisan Skills, this can be found here.
# When you're active and online it is advised you do some Combat. Especially at the start Combat sessions don't last long and desired items are gotten rather quickly.
#* You can also follow the Combat Focused Guide from this point, you'll have a leg up when you start that after following this Guide, just skip the steps you've already done.
# Please don't forget to return to the Step you were on when you're going offline again. Offline Combat can kill you if you run out of Food.

Alternative Money Making with Atlas of Discovery
This takes a while to set up due to having to grow Herbs to level Herblore. There is a guide to leveling Herblore here. <br>
It is however much more GP per hour than Fishing.
# Start by leveling Mining to Level 85.
#* Make sure to buy all the Pickaxe Upgrades from the Shop.
#* Craft a Mole Tablet as soon as you receive the Mark.
# Level Herblore to Level 53.
#* Craft Perfect Swing Potion, preferably until you reach Perfect Swing Potion IV.
#** The higher Tier Potion, the better effect you're getting.
# Buy Mining Gloves from the Shop.
#* Keep an eye out for how many charges you have left on your gloves, they double all the Pure Crystal you get.
# Mine Pure Crystal for profit and sell them all.
#* This will net you approximately 4 to 39.5 Million GP per hour.
#** Ways to increase the profit per hour can be found here

Combat Focus for Max efficiency with Throne of the Herald / Atlas of Discovery
This Method aims at clearing Throne of the Herald as soon as possible for the Harold pet. This gives:
* Max Pool Mastery Cap increased by 25%
*2% Global Interval reduction
* 0.1s Attack Speed Interval reduction
*5% Global Mastery Gain
*as well as many more useful things.

Doing this first has many benefits to every skill.

This will be combat focused. Level as little non-combat as possible to rush Harold for the benefits, after which skilling and attacking will be faster/easier. It's the biggest boost one can get in the entire game.

It is recommended you completely ignore Township buildings after setting Aeris as your Worship.
*Keeping Township low will allow for cheaper rerolls of Casual Tasks.
*We will be using these Casual Tasks for free SCSlayer Coins.
*Tasks that provide SCSlayer Coins will reward 1000 per Slayer Level.
**Township Level has no influence on that.
*Once you feel you no longer need the Food, Prayer Points, Bolts or Arrows from them, and you have a decent Gold GP income, feel free to start leveling Township.

Before going into Combat it is recommended to Level these Non-Combat Skills:
Skill!!Level!!Reason
Astrology||60|| Max out the first stars (They give Global Accuracy which applies to all Attack Styles) <br>in the Constellations Iridan, Terra, Vale, Syllia and Arachi. If there is not enough Stardust obtained, try to balance out where you spend it and maximize the amount of Accuracy Gained. <br> It is worth it to keep training Astrology above Level 60 to obtain more Stardust.
Runecrafting||85|| For Ancient Rune & decently crafted Wizard Equipment.
Mining & Smithing||40||At 40 Mining and 40 Smithing you can mine & craft Silver Bar and Gold Bar, which are required to upgrade Melee Armour to (G), so they actually get their Damage Reduction.
Agility||70||To start with Agility will be enough. Agility should be the aim once Impending Darkness Event is beaten.

Later Aims should be:

Skill!!Level!!Reason
Herblore or Cartography||90||Both these Skills grant access to Damage Reduction Potion IV which is very helpful, especially in the TotHThrone of the Herald Expansion. <br> When Herblore is chosen it will also need Damage Reduction Potion IV. In Cartography 1000 can be  obtained at 31 The Sand-Covered Treasure. These can be turned in for with Township Task Hard 15.
Archaeology||90||Only when also doing Cartography, since this allows access to Underwater Ruins which has the very powerful Engulfing Vortex Longbow. This is quite a grind but well worth it; the weapon shreds through Throne of the Herald content
Archaeology|| 118||This is highly Optional Not required but very fun to play with, Merman Pendant and Pirate Hook are 2 very powerful items only obtainable from very high Archaeology. You can defeat the entire game without them, they will however make some parts of the game faster/more fun.

Starting Off Your Journey
Once you've got all the skills at around Level 30, with Astrology at level 60, Agility at Level 50, Runecrafting at Level 85 and Mining & Smithing at Level 40. You're ready to start your Combat Journey.
<!-- Original: It is assumed that Combat Stats are also at Level 30. I have assumed that 30 is a typo and replaced it with 5 - please revise -->

#It is assumed that Combat Stats are also at Level 30.
#* If your Combat Skills are not Level 30, go beat up some Chicken, Cow or Golbin to get to at least Attack and Defence Level 5.
#* Craft some Steel Equipment and upgrade it twice with Silver Bar and Gold Bar to it's (G) version so it gets the Damage Reduction.
#**Equip the armour and continue your Combat.
#**It is suggested to do Slayer Tasks. Since they are free to reroll at this point, keep getting new tasks until you see a task you can easily do.
# When you're roughly level 20-25 in Combat Skills (or 30 from Leveling everything to 30), it's time to switch to Mithril Equipment. Seeing as our Mining and Smithing isn't high enough to craft this, we can get these items from Mithril Knight.
#*Collect: 2x Mithril Helmet, 1x Mithril Platebody, 2x Mithril Platelegs and 2xMithril Boots.
#**Turn 1 set of these items in for Normal Township Task #1, this rewards a (G) Mithril Platebody and (G) Mithril Shield, saving you some time needing to gather the Silver Bar and Gold Bar.
#**Upgrade the Mithril Helmet, Mithril Platelegs and Mithril Boots to (G) the normal way so they get Damage Reduction too.
#***This will require and .
#Continue Farming Slayer while leveling your Combat Skills.
#*Once you reach Combat Levels around Level 40-45 it's time to upgrade the Armour and Weapon again. This time we'll be aiming for Rune Equipment, completely skipping Adamant Equipment.
#**We also can't craft Rune Equipment so we'll be getting it from Rune Knight.
#**This will be the last Melee Armour Set needed before upgrading to God Equipment.
#**A good Weapon alternative at this point is Ice Sword or Ice Dagger or Ice Battleaxe. This can be obtained from Frozen Cove.
#***A Rune Claw would also be a very good weapon but requires some Barrier combat.
#**Upgrade the Rune Helmet, Rune Platebody, Rune Platelegs, Rune Boots and Rune Shield to (G).
#*** This will require and .
#You will also need to level your Magic and Ranged.
#*Magic Wizard Armour you can craft in Runecrafting.
#**Simply craft the highest Wizard Armour you can craft that matches the Element of the highest Spell you can Cast. This will increase the Minimum Damage of the Spell.
#**A Magic Wand (Powerful) can be crafted by upgrading
#***Or as a drop from Angel or Dark Wizard, which are both Magic enemies and can be rather rough unless your Ranged is already decently leveled.
#*D-Hide Equipment is slightly harder to come by. For this, Spider Forest needs to be cleared several times
#**This drops Green D-Hide Equipment (Level 40), Blue D-Hide Equipment (Level 50), Red D-Hide Equipment (Level 60) and Black D-Hide Equipment (Level 70).
#**Clearing Spider Forest 30 times rewards 10000, 25000 and a (U) Green D-hide Body through Normal Township Task #3
#**Amulet of Looting also drops in this dungeon. When worn this item loots all items directly into your bank instead of the Loot Box.
#***It is recommended you keep for the Loot Container Stacking later on.
#***There is also a Township Task to turn one in, although this only provides 25000 and is not worth it at this time.
#** You can get a Adamant Crossbow, Rune Crossbow or Dragon Crossbow by thieving at Thieving.
#**An easy way to get Bolts is by buying Slayer Resupplies. This will also provide you Prayer Points and some Food.
#At this point you should have all 3 Combat Styles available to you. Keep fighting Slayer tasks until you reach Hitpoints.
#*At Hitpoints you're set to start Volcanic Cave, you can find a guide here.
# This is where this guide ends. You should have grasped the basics of Combat and Upgrading at this point.
#*Further Guides can be found with each Dungeon. They all have a list of recommended/required Equipment and Skill Levels.
#* The Dungeon Guides have been kept as low as possible on the Requirements and Gear needed.
#*If you want to know what the next objectives are, look at the Next Dungeon guide. This should give you Items and Skill Levels to aim for.
# After defeating Throne of the Herald.
#* Fully max out Cartography if AoDAtlas of Discovery Expansion is owned. Including Hex Mastery.
#* Level Agility to Level 120. Guide to which obstacles to pick for minimum effort/other skills can be found here at step 15.
#** It is suggested to get Crafting to Level 115 for Stamina Pouch to lower interval even further.
#* You will need several Skills at high Levels to be able to build Agility Obstacles.
#* Build your Pillar of Expertise when available.

  • Melvor Idle has true offline progression, when the game is opened after being turned off, it will automatically calculate the difference in time and reward all progress made in the time spent offline up to 24 hours.
    • If you find the 24 hour timespan too limiting, it can be extended with the "Unlimited Offline" Mod. Longer periods of inactivity may lead to long load times.
    • Mods to any game always come with inherent risk, use your own discretion before downloading mods and keep regular backups.

Skills That Buff Other Skills

These skills are mostly centered around "if you invest in this skill, other skills will get stronger". Some of these skills also provide some direction about what order to work on other skills, because the bonuses that work on other skills unlock in a specific order. For the sake of simplicity, this section only discusses non-combat bonuses. See the full skill pages for how they provide buffs for combat skills.

A far more comprehensive list of what skills do can be found in the Beginners Guide.

If you wish to see how Skills effect other Skills please expand the column below.

Switch to
Error creating thumbnail: File missing

if in doubt about where to go next.
  1. Open the
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing

    • Error creating thumbnail: File missing

  2. Train

    • Buy the the first 5 levels of the first Star (the ones that give accuracy) in each Constellation (

    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Summoning
    at the same time.
    • Summoning is a very important skill that benefits all your other skills, and it is leveled by equipping and using Summoning Familiars (tablets). It levels slowly while training other skills, and cannot really be sped up, making it an important skill to train early.
    • Train
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing

With this minor preparation of our skills, we're now ready to start choosing a way to play the game, be it Skilling or Combat you should be set for both!

Ways To Play The Game

There are several ways to play the game, depending on your goals and preferred gameplay. Here are some suggested ways to play the game and a guide on how to do it.

  1. We start off with a little preparing to do some minor Combat.
    • This is where our Combat section starts. If time is of importance, it is suggested you progress through the Steps #2-5 until you want to take a break from the game. Continue on with step #6 until you feel like revisiting these Steps at a later time.
  2. Level
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Mining
to Level 50. This gives us access to Mithril Ore.
    • Save all the Ore you mine for the next step.
  3. Level
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Smithing
to Level 57. - Has a minimal Guide here.
  4. Sell all the Crafted
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Smithing
Items and sell all the rest of your Ores.
    • This should get you closer to 1,000,000GP.
      • Either go
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Fishing
        or mine Crystal in
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Mining
(Requires the AoD.pngAtlas of Discovery Expansion) until you reach 1,000,000GP
      • Once 1,000,000GP has been obtained, buy
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Auto Eat
        from the Shop.
      • If you still have some food from leveling
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Fishing
to Level 30, equip the food and you're ready for some Combat.
      • If you're out of Food Fish up some Shrimp and cook those in
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Cooking
        so they can be eaten.
      • To consume food, it must first be equipped through the Bank and then selected using the food drop-down menu on the
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Combat
        or
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Thieving
        page.
      • If you skipped the "Level everything to Level 30" step, Craft some Bronze Equipment and level all your Melee Combat Skills to Level 5, then craft some Steel Equipment and level your Combat Skills to Level 20. Chicken, Cow or Golbin are your suggested Targets. They don't do too much Damage and have relatively little Health.
      • The suggested target for now is the Master Farmer. He drops Seeds which will be needed for
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Farming
        . With
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Auto Eat
        and
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Hitpoints
Level 30 this should be completely safe as long as you don't run out of food. Killing Master Farmer will
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Auto Eat
around 420 Shrimp per hour. If you have higher healing food than Shrimp you will be using less than 420 per hour.
  5. Plant a few of your found Seeds in
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Farming
    Farming Plots.
    • Be sure to this once every so often to passively Level
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Farming
      .
      • If you run out of Seeds that you can plant, you can always get more from the Master Farmer.
  6. Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Astrology
    is our next Skill.
  7. The first large goal is to reach
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Level 99
    , this increases
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Mastery
    and Stardust gains.
    • Start with Deedree and work your way up through the other Constellations when they unlock.
    • If they're close to Level 80
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Mastery
it will be worth waiting a little while then switch as soon as they reach Level 80
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Mastery
      .
    • Once you're
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Level 99
buy the Astrology Skillcape from the Shop and equip it.
    • Keep training
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Astrology
until all Constellations are at least Level 80
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Mastery
, this allows you to Purchase 5 of the 6 Stars.
      • There are a few Constellations where it's worth to Level them all the way to 99
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Mastery
and Purchase all the stars, those are:
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Iridan
        ,
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Terra
        , AoD.png
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Nysa
        ,

        and
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Ko
        .
    • If the TotH.svgThrone of the Herald Expansion is owned, this skill can go to Level 120.

      • Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Haemir
’s benefits aren't all that useful at this point, however it does give the most xp/h so it's only purpose is to level
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Astrology
faster if you're not at Level 110 yet.
        • If you're already at
          Error creating thumbnail: File missing
          Level 110
          you can completely ignore
          Error creating thumbnail: File missing
          Haemir
, the rewards from this Constellation will not provide any bonuses for now.
      • Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Rosaniya
is a very good Constellation and should be fully maxed to 99
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Mastery
        and Purchase all the stars.
      • Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Ashtar
is also extremely powerful, but can be skipped until you start combat. If you do combat in the times you are online, it is highly recommended you max out this Constellation to 99
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Mastery
too and Purchase all the stars.
  8. The next step is to make some GP
    • This is the start of the Money Making Method, for an alternative Method go here
      • It is still advised you start by following the
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Woodcutting
        ,

        Fishing
        and

    • We start by

      • Craft
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing

        • You'll need to buy some Summoning Shards from the Shop, which you should have enough GP for from selling all the stuff you got from leveling everything to Level 30.
        • You will need to craft at least 1 Tablet to be able obtain more Marks for the same Familiar.
        • Equipping the Tablet doubles your chances of getting Marks.
    • After the
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Ent
tablets have been crafted, equip them.
    • Then continue
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing

      until you find

      .
    • Don't Sell your Normal Logs for now. Keep 630 Normal Logs in the Bank, they will be needed later.
  9. Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Fishing
    is our next target.
    • Start by buying the
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Iron Fishing Rod
      from the Shop for 100GP.
    • Buy further Fishing Rod upgrades when they unlock at Levels 10, 20, 35, 50, 60 and 80.
    • Fish the highest experience Fish you can, there is a list of the experience/second to be referenced here. Alternatively you can installed the "ETA" Mod which will tell you exactly how much Experience per Hour you'll get on each Fish.
    • Just pick the highest one until you get to Shark then keep fishing Shark until

Production of resources never falls to 0 so you will be able to build some buildings eventually. It just might take time.

    • The order in which Skills get leveled does not matter a whole lot, as the remaining Skills don't have Global Bonusses. There is however a relationship between Gathering and Artisan Skills, this can be found here.
  19. When you're active and online it is advised you do some Combat. Especially at the start Combat sessions don't last long and desired items are gotten rather quickly.
    • You can also follow the Combat Focused Guide from this point, you'll have a leg up when you start that after following this Guide, just skip the steps you've already done.
  20. Please don't forget to return to the Step you were on when you're going offline again. Offline Combat can kill you if you run out of Food.

Alternative Money Making with Atlas of Discovery

This takes a while to set up due to having to grow Herbs to level
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Herblore
. There is a guide to leveling
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Herblore
here.
It is however much more GP per hour than
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Fishing
.
  1. Start by leveling
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Mining
    to Level 85.
    • Make sure to buy all the Pickaxe Upgrades from the Shop.
    • Craft a
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Mole
Tablet as soon as you receive the Mark.
  2. Level
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Herblore
    to Level 53.
    • Craft Perfect Swing Potion, preferably until you reach
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Level 90
      .
      • The higher Tier Potion, the better effect you're getting.
  3. Buy Mining Gloves from the Shop.
    • Keep an eye out for how many charges you have left on your gloves, they double all the Pure Crystal you get.
  4. Mine Pure Crystal for profit and sell them all.
    • This will net you approximately 4 to 39.5 Million GP per hour.
      • Ways to increase the profit per hour can be found here

Combat Focus for Max efficiency with Throne of the Herald / Atlas of Discovery

This Method aims at clearing
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Throne of the Herald
as soon as possible for the Harold pet. This gives:
  • Max Pool Mastery Cap increased by 25%
  • 2% Global Interval reduction
  • 0.1s Attack Speed Interval reduction
  • 5% Global Mastery Gain
  • as well as many more useful things.

Doing this first has many benefits to every skill.

This will be combat focused. Level as little non-combat as possible to rush Harold for the benefits, after which skilling and attacking will be faster/easier. It's the biggest boost one can get in the entire game.

It is recommended you completely ignore
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Township
buildings after setting Aeris as your Worship.
  • Keeping
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Township
low will allow for cheaper rerolls of Casual Tasks.
  • We will be using these Casual Tasks for free SCSlayer Coins.
  • Tasks that provide SCSlayer Coins will reward 1,000SC per
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Slayer
    Level.
    • Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Township
Level has no influence on that.
  • Once you feel you no longer need the Food, Prayer Points, Bolts or Arrows from them, and you have a decent Gold GP income, feel free to start leveling
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Township
    .

Before going into Combat it is recommended to Level these Non-Combat Skills:

Skill Level Reason

in the Constellations

,

and

. If there is not enough Stardust obtained, try to balance out where you spend it and maximize the amount of Accuracy Gained.
It is worth it to keep training
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Astrology
above Level 60 to obtain more Stardust.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Runecrafting
85 For Ancient Runes & decently crafted Wizard Equipment.

you can mine & craft Silver Bar and Gold Bar, which are required to upgrade Melee Armour to (G), so they actually get their Damage Reduction.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Agility
70 To start with
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Level 50
will be enough.
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Level 99
should be the aim once

is beaten.

Later Aims should be:

Skill Level Reason
Error creating thumbnail: File missing

90 Both these Skills grant access to Damage Reduction Potion IV which is very helpful, especially in the TotH.svgThrone of the Herald Expansion.
When

Starting Off Your Journey

Once you've got all the skills at around Level 30, with
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Astrology
at level 60,
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Agility
at Level 50,
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Runecrafting
at Level 85 and
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Mining
&
Error creating thumbnail: File missing
Smithing
at Level 40. You're ready to start your Combat Journey.
  1. It is assumed that Combat Stats are also at Level 30.
    • If your Combat Skills are not Level 30, go beat up some Chicken, Cow or Golbin to get to at least
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Attack
      and
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Defence
      Level 5.
    • Craft some Steel Equipment and upgrade it twice with Silver Bar and Gold Bar to it's (G) version so it gets the Damage Reduction.
      • Equip the armour and continue your Combat.
      • It is suggested to do Slayer Tasks. Since they are free to reroll at this point, keep getting new tasks until you see a task you can easily do.
  2. When you're roughly level 20-25 in Combat Skills (or 30 from Leveling everything to 30), it's time to switch to Mithril Equipment. Seeing as our
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Mining
    and
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Smithing
isn't high enough to craft this, we can get these items from Mithril Knight.
  3. Continue Farming
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Slayer
    while leveling your Combat Skills.
  4. You will also need to level your
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Magic
    and
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Ranged
    .
  5. At this point you should have all 3 Combat Styles available to you. Keep fighting
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Slayer
    tasks until you reach
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Level 77
    .
    • At
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Level 77
      you're set to start
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Volcanic Cave
, you can find a guide here.
  6. This is where this guide ends. You should have grasped the basics of Combat and Upgrading at this point.
    • Further Guides can be found with each Dungeon. They all have a list of recommended/required Equipment and Skill Levels.
    • The Dungeon Guides have been kept as low as possible on the Requirements and Gear needed.
    • If you want to know what the next objectives are, look at the Next Dungeon guide. This should give you Items and Skill Levels to aim for.
  7. After defeating
    Error creating thumbnail: File missing
    Throne of the Herald
    .
    • Fully max out
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Cartography
if AoD.pngAtlas of Discovery Expansion is owned. Including Hex Mastery.
    • Level
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Agility
to Level 120. Guide to which obstacles to pick for minimum effort/other skills can be found here at step 15.
      • It is suggested to get
        Error creating thumbnail: File missing
        Crafting
to Level 115 for Stamina Pouch to lower interval even further.
    • You will need several Skills at high Levels to be able to build
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Agility
      Obstacles.
    • Build your
      Error creating thumbnail: File missing
      Pillar of Expertise
      when available.
