Introduction
This page presents one of the possible ways to start your Melvor journey. Please note that the instructions below are for the Standard and
Game Modes. For Adventure, please refer to Adventure/Guide.
The goal of the provided steps is to make your overall progress to 100% completion as fast as possible. However, it is not guaranteed that this is the fastest method, nor is there a right or wrong way to progress in the game. New players in particular may wish to try a larger diversity of rather than training the same skills for a significant amount of time. Therefore, feel free to diverge from the below guidance should you wish to do so.
This page is inspired by the following reddit post.
Steps
- Level Error creating thumbnail: File missingAstrology until level 20 to unlockError creating thumbnail: File missingAmeria, then continue training on this constellation until level 80Error creating thumbnail: File missingMastery. Doing so will provide access to 3 basic modifiers and 2 unique modifiers from Ameria, which can then be re-rolled using the 'Reroll All' option to acquire someError creating thumbnail: File missingFishing bonuses, consuming Stardust and Golden Stardust in the process.
- For standard modifiers, aim for at least +5% Fishing Skill XP over all three modifiers.
- For unique modifiers, aim for at least +5% Special Items chance from Fishing, or -3% Fishing Interval over both modifiers.
- Please note that these are the overall bonuses across all standard or unique modifiers unlocked, not the suggested modifiers for a single slot. The chance of 5% in a single slot is 1 in 100, so don't attempt to roll for that.
- Train Error creating thumbnail: File missingWoodcutting by following as many of the steps outlined below as you're able to until you obtain one Mark of theError creating thumbnail: File missingEnt, then craft Ent tablets until aboutError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 10. Use these tablets inError creating thumbnail: File missingWoodcutting untilError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 15 (using tablets grants more XP than crafting them) and you receive five more Mark of the Ent to unlock the Ent/OctopusError creating thumbnail: File missingSynergy. TrainError creating thumbnail: File missingFishing until you receive one Mark of theError creating thumbnail: File missingOctopus.
- Axe upgrades should be purchased as soon as possible, as they significantly decrease the amount of time required to cut all trees.
- No matter what you're doing, try to ensure you always have tablets equipped, even if this means temporarily stopping whatever skill you are doing to create some more. Having a Error creating thumbnail: File missingSynergy that works in the skill you're training increases the amount ofError creating thumbnail: File missingSummoning XP you gain per action.
- Train Error creating thumbnail: File missingFishing withError creating thumbnail: File missingEnt andError creating thumbnail: File missingOctopus equipped until both the Ancient Ring of Skills and Ancient Ring of Mastery have been acquired. It is likely thatError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 99 will have been reached by the time this happens due to the rarity of these rings.
- Create a small quantity of Error creating thumbnail: File missingEnt andError creating thumbnail: File missingOctopus tablets. Remember to stop training Fishing if you need to create more tablets. All summoning tablets have a dropdown box to select recipe, changing the type and quantity of resources consumed per action.
- Open any Treasure Chests, equipping the Error creating thumbnail: File missingAmulet of Fishing if it drops as this reduces the catch time for all fish.
- Fishing Rods also provide a significant decrease to catch time and should be purchased as soon as they become available.
- Keep any Diamonds gained along the way as these are required for a number of highly desirable things later, notably Diamond Luck Potions and the Ice Jump Error creating thumbnail: File missingAgility obstacle.
- Sell everything else acquired while Fishing, which should provide enough GP to fund fishing rod upgrades, the Error creating thumbnail: File missingMulti-Tree upgrade for later, and any other purchases such as additional bank slots.
- Once you've obtained a decent amount of of GP, you can begin saving any Diamonds, Emeralds, and Sapphires obtained from fishing, as these will be useful for creating Error creating thumbnail: File missingDevil tablets later, and for various other skills further down the line.
- If possible, all gems can reasonably be saved at this point, and only sold in small quantities if necessary.
Catching the following fish is suggested:
- Whales for GP and eventually so they can be cooked into valuable food and Error creating thumbnail: File missingCooking XP, or turned intoError creating thumbnail: File missingSummoning tablets.
- Magic Fish are worth approximately 1% more more GP/h than whales. However, whales also serve many purposes beyond raw GP, as they will be useful for leveling Error creating thumbnail: File missingCooking, can be eaten in Combat, used as a resource for anError creating thumbnail: File missingAgility Obstacle, and can be a valuable resource for creatingError creating thumbnail: File missingWolf andError creating thumbnail: File missingPig Tablets. Fishing whales with theError creating thumbnail: File missingOctopus andError creating thumbnail: File missingPig synergy is worth significantly more GP than Magic Fish. While they do have an innately high special chance, once whales are unlocked, Magic Fish are not recommended as they will not help you advance in any other skills.
- Skeleton Fish, which can be redeemed for Error creating thumbnail: File missingPrayer points, and have an 8% base chance to obtain a special item.
- Seahorses if you are very low level, and don't care about anything but the highest number of special rolls per hour, which maximizes the chance of acquiring both rings. This doesn't apply if you are able to catch Skeleton Fish or have reached Error creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 99 to massively improve your GP gains with the Fishing Skillcape.
- Create a small quantity of
- Consume any Mastery Tokens acquired to increase your Error creating thumbnail: File missingMastery Pool. When yourError creating thumbnail: File missingFishing mastery pool exceeds 95%, you can start spending your mastery pool to increase yourError creating thumbnail: File missingMastery level for individual fish. First, level all fish to at least level 20, then focus spending on whichever fish you're currently working on, if it is below 88 Mastery.
- Level 88 Error creating thumbnail: File missingMastery is an approximate point where spending mastery pool becomes inefficient, while you can use the pool to level an item higher than 88, it is recommended at that point to simply train the item until it hits 99 and spend your pool on other, lower leveled items.
- Higher total Error creating thumbnail: File missingMastery levels across all items and all skills increase the rate at which you obtain certain rare items, so your first goal when hitting above 95% Pool in any skill should be to level as many items as possible as high as possible.
- Level 88
- Train Error creating thumbnail: File missingAstrology further. Equip the Ancient Ring of Mastery and studyError creating thumbnail: File missingDeedree until level 80Error creating thumbnail: File missingMastery. Once reached, re-roll modifiers as follows:
- For Error creating thumbnail: File missingDeedree aim for anyError creating thumbnail: File missingWoodcutting bonuses - preferably increased Skill XP or Mastery XP for standard modifiers, and increased Bird Nest drop rate for unique modifiers.
- For Error creating thumbnail: File missingAmeria aim for anyError creating thumbnail: File missingFiremaking bonuses - preferably increased Skill XP or Mastery XP for standard modifiers, and decreased Firemaking interval for unique modifiers.
- For
- Alternate between training Error creating thumbnail: File missingWoodcutting andError creating thumbnail: File missingFiremaking. Equip the Ancient Ring of Skills before starting. The ultimate goal here isError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 99 to unlock the Firemaking Skillcape. Before getting too deep into woodcutting, be aware of the Clue Chasers Insignia; this amulet counts for completion, is very useful for skilling, and requires exact, low numbers of Redwood and Maple logs, as a result it is likely best to simply skip Maple Logs at this point.
- Axe upgrades should be purchased as soon as possible, as they significantly decrease the amount of time required to cut all trees.
- Skip Magic Logs due to the long cut time. This means using Error creating thumbnail: File missingMulti-Tree to simultaneously cut Redwood and Yew logs.
- Having Error creating thumbnail: File missingEnt andError creating thumbnail: File missingOctopus equipped will increase the number of Bird Nests dropped and continue to grant you more summoning XP.
- If you have reached Error creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 90, as soon as you obtain one Mark of theError creating thumbnail: File missingDevil you can begin to craft them and use them for Firemaking to increase your summoning XP/action considerably and your Firemaking XP/h.
- Open any Bird Nests dropped for seeds, then begin training Error creating thumbnail: File missingFarming. Once started, any planted seeds will grow in the background while training any other skill. Keep Strawberry Seeds for Gentle Hands Potions used inError creating thumbnail: File missingThieving, and keep Watermelons forError creating thumbnail: File missingAgility.
- Save any Redwood Logs gained as these should be turned into Dragon Javelins later, burning only up to and including Yew Logs to achieve Error creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 99.
- Manually lighting bonfires is not recommended. Although doing so will increase the Error creating thumbnail: File missingFiremaking Skill XP gained, this is very manual to maintain and uses significantly more logs. Lighting bonfires automatically by using Controlled Heat Potions is however highly recommended if you are able to reachError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 20 by creating only Bird Nest Potions, requiring Garum Herbs fromError creating thumbnail: File missingFarming and Potato Seeds from Bird Nests to create.
- After reaching Error creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 15, trainError creating thumbnail: File missingAgility until level 10 is reached. This will allow the Monkey Bars Agility obstacle to be created, providing a 4% decrease to the Firemaking interval.
- After reaching Error creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 35 andError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 30, trainingError creating thumbnail: File missingAgility once more, this time until level 20 is reached for the purpose of creating the Stepping Stones obstacle. This obstacle provides both a 6% decrease to Woodcutting interval and a 3% increase to Firemaking skill XP.
- Train Error creating thumbnail: File missingAstrology once more, this time untilError creating thumbnail: File missingLevel 99 is reached in order to unlock many more bonuses. Re-roll any modifiers as you see fit, however try not to spend too much time re-rolling until all constellations areError creating thumbnail: File missingMastery level 99, at which point all modifiers will be unlocked.
At this point, you have both ancient rings (providing +8% Skill or Mastery XP, depending on which is equipped), the Firemaking Skillcape (providing +5% Skill XP to all skills), and a variety of other bonuses from
and
.
The choices on what path to take next start to open up, some suggestions are:
- Error creating thumbnail: File missingThieving for GP, and various Area unique & NPC unique items, a number of which provide various bonuses to other skills.
- Error creating thumbnail: File missingMining,Error creating thumbnail: File missingSmithing, andError creating thumbnail: File missingFletching for the Dragon Javelin money-making method, which is one of the best in the game. This is where any saved Redwood Logs from Woodcutting will be used. This will also allow you to spend any Maple Logs in order to have the correct amount for the Clue Chasers Insignia.
- Error creating thumbnail: File missingAgility to unlock further obstacles, providing additional bonuses. Reaching any further than obstacle 5 or 6 may be difficult initially however, due to the significant cost of obstacles and various level requirements.
