Pure Damage is Used by Monsters in the Stronghold.
All Monsters in File:Strongholds.png Strongholds deal a new type of damage called Pure Damage.
This means your 
Damage Reduction Damage Reduction gear have no effect. This is a pure DPS combat challenge.
