Best in Slot (also abbreviated as 'BIS') is a term used to refer to the best possible item of Equipment for a given equipment slot.
There are no absolute Best in Slot items for all circumstances.
The Vorloran Equipment is the highest Damage Reduction Armour available in the game, there are however many cases where other items are considered "better". The only real exception to this is generally the Vorloran Magic Armour, although there are still scenarios where other items are considered "better".
It is generally suggested to use the Combat Simulator in order to check which items are best for a specific situation. Many of the combat Guides, notably those which are for Dungeons, contain equipment recommendations which can serve as a guideline for what could be considered the "best" at various points throughout the game.
