Firemaking is the ancient art of making fires. Increasing the Firemaking skill level allows the player to purchase higher tier cooking fires from the Shop. Burning a log has a 39% chance to give one Coal Ore. Raising Firemaking to PAGENAME will unlock the Firemaking Skillcape for purchase from the Shop. Equipping the Skillcape increases the chance to receive Coal Ore from burning logs to 100%, and provides a 5% bonus to experience gained from any skill.
One of the main attractions of PAGENAME is the experience bonuses it can provide to all skills. Wearing the Firemaking Skillcape will grant +5% global skill experience, unlocking Pyro will grant +1% global skill experience, 5% global Mastery experience is granted while the 95% pool checkpoint is active, and 0.25% global mastery experience is granted for each log that is Mastery level 99, a total of 2.25% (TotH 4.5%) once each log is mastered.

Purchasing the Art of Control upgrade reduces the time to burn a log by 20%.
Mechanics
The amount of time taken to burn a log can be reduced by 15% if the Art of Control upgrade has been purchased, 10% while the 25% pool checkpoint is active, 5% while the Devil familiar is equipped, up to 5% with Ameria (), 4% if Monkey Bars is active, 2% if Warm Beanie is worn, 5% for the Quick Burner II Consumable (2% for Quick Burner) and 0.1% for each Mastery level gained in the log being burned. The maximum possible reduction is therefore 46.1% at Mastery level 1, and 55.9% at Mastery level 99.

The TotH Throne of the Herald Expansion introduces further interval reductions, which are 8% if the Kindling Pouch II Consumable is in use (a 3% upgrade over Quick Burner II), 3% if the Elite Pillar of Expertise is active, and 2% if Harold is unlocked. Therefore, the maximum possible reduction in TotH is 54.1% at Mastery level 1, and 63.9% at Mastery level 99.

The AoD Atlas of Discovery Expansion introduces the first flat interval reduction on the Ragnar Dungeon Ruins at 0.1s, or doubled with Carthulu to 0.2s. Additionally, bonus adds another 3% for all non-combat skills. Finally, the Ancient Relics game mode can also double the bonus from Ameria, for another 5% reduction. Therefore, the maximum possible reduction in AoD is 66.9% + 0.2s flat in standard, and 71.9% + 0.2s in Ancient Relics at Mastery level 99.

Items Received
The chance of receiving each of the above items can be boosted with the Clue Chasers Insignia, and the quantity received may be doubled with global or Firemaking specific doubling bonuses.

With the or the Devil + Mole familiar synergy it is also possible to receive Diamond while firemaking. The quantity of Diamonds received is always 1, and cannot be doubled.

Items Received

The player will sometimes receive items while burning logs. Each of these items is rolled separately, so it is possible to get multiple different items from the same action.

Item Chance Log
Coal Ore 40% All
Ash 20% All
Charcoal 1% All
Generous Fire Spirit 0.1% All
Stardust 1%

The chance of receiving each of the above items can be boosted with the Clue Chasers Insignia, and the quantity received may be doubled with global or Firemaking specific doubling bonuses.

The amount of Ash received is determined by the base burn time of the log in seconds. For example Normal Logs take 2 seconds to burn and thus give 2 Ash.

It is possible to increase the odds of receiving items through various means. For example, the Firemaking Skillcape increases the chance to receive Coal Ore after each Firemaking action to 100% and the Burning Amulet of Charcoal increases the chance of receiving Charcoal by 10%.

With the

or the

familiar synergy it is also possible to receive Diamonds while firemaking. The quantity of Diamonds received is always 1, and cannot be doubled.

Bonfires

While firemaking the player has the option to light a bonfire at the cost of 10 logs. This action itself does not give experience; bonfires instead provide bonus experience for firemaking when lit. The amount of bonus experience gained depends on the log being burned (see: Logs). Note that the experience bonus applies to skill experience only, and does not provide additional

experience. The type of logs used in a bonfire are independent of the logs used in the normal firemaking action. For maximum XP gain and burn time, it is therefore preferable to light the highest level of logs you have access to.

By using Controlled Heat Potions, bonfires will automatically be started at the cost of no logs.

Potion

The Controlled Heat Potion relights bonfires automatically at the cost of no logs. The bonfire must first be lit manually however, which will incur the usual cost of 10 logs.
