{{ItemIcon|Secret Stardust Potion I|Secret Stardust Potion}} can be used to increase the rate of leveling, but it is only suggested to be used if high levels of preservation and doubling can be obtained to maximize the amount of potions created per {{ItemIcon|Stardust}} used. {{Skill|Farming}} gains experience based on the number of items harvested, so using items like {{ItemIcon|Compost}} will increase gains by reducing the amount of crop failures. {{ItemIcon|Weird Gloop}} will also do that, with the added benefit of increasing harvest sizes which will increase the amount of experience gained further.

To gain a large amount of seeds it is possible to use {{Skill|Thieving}} with {{Icon|type=thieving|Bob the Farmer}}, {{Skill|Woodcutting}} with {{ItemIcon|Bird Nest Potion I|Bird Nest Potion}}, or {{Icon|Combat}} with {{Icon|Junior Farmer|type=monster}}, {{Icon|Adult Farmer|type=monster}}, and {{Icon|Master Farmer|type=monster}}. Other monsters may drop individual seeds at higher rates than these options, but at the start the goal would be to collect a wide variety of seeds as fast as possible.
