Into the Mist/Guide
This page was last updated for (v0.20). |
There are a number of ways
can be completed. In general, waves 1-20 are best completed with your best Magic gear and Ancient Magicks or actively switching to take advantage of Combat Triangle bonuses. It's highly recommended that once you reach the final boss, you take the time to calculate the DR values and maximum hits per attack of each phase. Eating strategies can generally solve the final bosses and aid you in learning when to deal damage and when to survive, but it's useful to know what attack might kill you with your exact gear and levels. For all phases of the dungeon, as long as you do not get instantly killed by one attack (one shot), you can most likely complete the dungeon with the appropriate weapon.
Eating Patterns
There are 3 different eating patterns used in this guide. It's important to note that this dungeon only needs to be completed once, so the strategy is not about completing the dungeon as fast as possible, but rather not dying so you can complete it at least once. It is far more important to ensure you have enough HP to survive an attack than not resetting your attack timer through manual eating.
- Autoeat — let autoeat heal you and do not interrupt your attack.
- Eat if not full Error creating thumbnail: File missingHP — eat to full HP if you are not full HP. Then let autoeat heal you.
- Hold Enter to Eat/Spam Eat — if you click on your food to eat manually, you will target your equipped food. You can see a bold grey box around your food to indicate it's selected. If you hold the Enter key on your keyboard, it will automatically try to eat each tick, and automatically eat when damaged. Do not let go until the attack is completed. This is not required to complete the dungeon; it just makes it easier. Spam clicking your food can work as well.
Additional Important Notes
Affliction reduces your maximum hitpoints while Mark of Death reduces your DR by 50%. This makes calculating autoeat and DR values difficult and eating patterns are calculated at maximum affliction stacks and reduced DR (the worse case scenario). There may be a chance of death while affliction is still stacking and depending if you are affected by Mark of Death or not. If you want to take a safer approach, you can spam eat and deal minimal damage until you are affected by maximum affliction stacks (half maximum hitpoints) so that damage numbers do not vary.
You may complete the dungeon with your food of choice; however, note that there may still be a chance of death due to your healing rate and the high damage per hit value of the boss. It is recommended to use high healing value food such as cave fish, manta ray, or whale, as this will restore HP quickly when you manually eat, reducing the chance of the boss hitting fast and frequently enough with its multihit attacks to kill you.
Minimum Recommended Levels
Using various of the explained methods in this guide, this dungeon was completed with 85 attack, 85 strength, 85 defence, 93 hitpoints, 88 prayer, 1 range, 85 magic. No range levels are required using the recoil method for phase 2; however, at least 80 range is recommended to use Stormsnap if using a more traditional approach. Diamond Luck Potions were used at these levels for each phase as well as generally BIS gear.
Bare Minimum Testing
A decent amount of testing took place to provide additional notes of varying stats and gear that are needed to complete this dungeon. As with all other dungeons, the better your stats are, the worse your gear can be and the better your gear is, the worse your stats can be - up to a point. This section is provided as a reference and it is very not recommended to follow the stats and gear outlined here.
Since Phase 1 is most difficult, most testing is around this Phase. Phase 1 was successfully completed with 85 attack, 1 strength, 85 defence, 93 hitpoints, and at least 43 prayer. The gear needed to complete this was full Terran God Armour, Infernal Cape, Fury of the Elemental Zodiacs, and Ragnar Godsword. With perfect eating (for 3 hours), no Diamond Luck Potions, and only
, Phase 1 was successfully completed, ending with 46 strength. In another test, Infernal Claw was used with full Ragnar God Armour and Dragonfire Shield along with 80 attack, 1 strength, 85 defence, 93 hitpoints, and 43 prayer. This setup was unable to progress past Phase 1 without the assistance of Sandstorm Ring (I gave up after 5 hours then equipped Sandstorm Ring and finished it. The DPS is just too low without Sandstorm, Diamond Luck Potions, or higher stats.). Although ITM can be completed with other Godswords (though you might need more bonuses) or even Sunset Rapier (of course, not at these low stats), this more shows the power of unavoidable damage specials.
Miscellaneous
The Shop Upgrade Dungeon Equipment Swapping is mandatory to complete this dungeon. The dungeon will pause when you have reached each Boss Phase, but not after every floor. The pause at each Phase only stops combat, allowing you to change your equipped gear, set, food, and potions. You are still considered to be inside the dungeon and switching to any other action will cause you to leave and lose all progress.
New Mysterious Figure - Phase 2 Warning
WARNING: Phase 2 can one-shot you. The chances of this are fairly low; however, it's still possible. The requirements are for it to Shadowstep 2 turns in a row, which will cause it to NORMAL ATTACK you. If your HP is lowered from affliction and you are affected by Mark of Death, it's possible to die at full HP. If you notice it start to NORMAL ATTACK under these circumstances, you will need to run to survive.
Diamond Luck Potions Deserve Their Own Section
Diamond Luck Potions are most likely the single best improvement and upgrade for this dungeon, as long as you have obtained all recommended stats and gear. Any tier can be used, as the only difference is the number of charges per potion. This is mostly because Phase 1 is the most difficult part of the dungeon due to DPS/accuracy issues. From testing, Diamond Luck Potions make it feel like any combination of God Gear can complete
.
Agility
While agility helps provide useful combat bonuses, it mostly helps lower the floor of stats and gear you need to attempt ITM. If any of the recommended obstacles mess with your HP/DR thresholds, it's okay to not use them.
Tier | Obstacle | Reasoning |
---|---|---|
1 | Any | No obstacles provide combat bonuses. |
2 | Any | No obstacles provide combat bonuses. |
3 | Pipe Climb | Only obstacle that provides a combat bonus. |
4 | Coal Stones | Just don't want to take any negative bonuses, though you can take Mud Dive or Cave Climb if you've already accounted for the HP or DR reduction in your HP/DR damage calculations. |
5 | Cliff Balance | Be sure to remember the HP increase in your HP/DR damage calculations. |
6 | Rocky Waters or Lake Swim | Rocky Waters is more effective than Lake Swim if you are pushing ITM with lower stats; however, Lake Swim has more damage. Be sure to remember the HP or DR increase in your HP/DR damage calculations. |
7 | Boulder Trap or Water Trap | Just select the trap that does not affect combat. |
8 | Raft Building | Be sure to remember the HP increase in your HP/DR damage calculations. |
9 | Water Jump, Ice Jump, or Frozen Lake Crossing | Water Jump is a slightly weaker choice than Frozen Lake Crossing. Be sure to remember the HP or DR increases in your HP/DR damage calculations. |
10 | Ocean Rafting | Additional damage boost. |
Pillar | Pillar of Combat | Pillar of Combat is the only DPS-boosting pillar, but it is not necessary to use if you already have a different Pillar. |
Summoning
Use whatever summons and synergies you feel would benefit you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Strategy 1: Average Clear
This strategy is generally the most used method to complete
. You will use almost every God Dungeon gear set and complete the dungeon by preferring high DPS gear each phase.

Ahrenia
Follow the recommended equipment list for gear to use; you can mix and match pieces depending on what you have, though ensure you have enough DR to not get one-shot. For imbued wands and expert wizard armor, the element does not matter, but you can match the element to the spell you're using. There are a few strategies that can be used for Ahrenia. Regardless of strategy, it is recommended to use Surge II.
20k Accuracy Ancient Magicks
Equip Air Imbued Wand, full Glacia armor, Skull Cape, Fury of the Elemental Zodiacs, Earth Layered Shield, and Warlock Ring. Use Magic Assistance Potion IV or Diamond Luck Potions, turn on
and
, and use Gust. Ensure you are over 33.4k accuracy before the fight begins to stay above the 20k threshold required to never miss with Gust after Ahrenia reduces your magic accuracy.
Diamond Luck is Key
Equip all of your best Magic gear - this can be the same as the above gear. Use Diamond Luck Potions, turn on
and
, and use any Ancient Magicks spell - slower hitting spells such as Quake, Gust, or Ignite are recommended due to the interaction with the Template:SpecialAttack increased DR. Do not worry about the reduced magical accuracy debuff, as Diamond Luck Potions will let you continue to put out damage.
Combined Spell Strategy
Optionally, you can optimize damage if you are unable to achieve the 33.4k accuracy rating needed to maintain the Ancient Magicks 20k threshold by starting the fight with a 20k accuracy Ancient Magicks spell (Slicing Winds, Gust, or Incinerate) and Magic Assistance Potion and switching spells (Gust, Quake) and potions to Diamond Luck Potions once your magic accuracy is under 20k.
You will need to learn eating patterns to ensure you do not die from attacks but can still put out enough DPS to finish the phase.

Strategy 2: Minimal Thinking and Effort
This strategy involves maximum AFKing. If you're worried about the final boss, you can follow this strategy.
Mysterious Figure - Phase 1
Phase 1 will require the most effort. This phase will be completed with normal strategies. Refer to the above Phase 1 gear table for recommendations. Use Diamond Luck Potions and turn on
and
.

Mysterious Figure - Phase 1, Option 2
For maximum idle ability, you can use Infernal Claw along with a shield, Diamond Luck Potions,
and
, and Hold Enter to Eat until the boss is dead. This might require higher stats than the above recommended levels are to complete.
Mysterious Figure - Phase 2
Phase 2 requires enough
and DR to not die at maximum affliction stacks and Mark of Death. The highest damaging hit is Concealed Danger at 450 damage. At above around
, you will need approximately 2% DR or more to achieve this. You will be damaging this phase to 1 HP through recoil damage and finishing it off with a final attack. Ensure Diamond Luck Potions are active, equip any 1-handed ranged weapon (even bronze throwing knives can be used), equip one or both of Gold Sapphire Ring and Recoil Shield, turn on
and
for accuracy — you do not want to use
, as you want to be hit to reflect damage, and start the fight. Since Phase 2 does not heal, it will eventually reach 1 HP, because recoil damage can't kill a monster. Eventually, you will hit with your ranged weapon of choice and finish Phase 2.
WARNING: Phase 2 can one-shot you. The chances of this are fairly low; however, it's still possible. The requirements are for it to Shadowstep 2 turns in a row, which will cause it to normal attack you. This eating pattern is to prevent the possibility of dying as you will always be full HP; it is not required to Hold Enter to Eat for the entire fight as long as you do not die to Concealed Danger.

Ahrenia
Ahrenia requires enough
and DR to not die. The highest damage attack is Shadow Burst at 800 damage. At above around
, you will need approximately 45 DR or more to achieve this. Refer to the above Ahrenia gear table for recommendations. Similar to Phase 2, you will ensure Diamond Luck Potions are active, use any Surge spell and the curse Decay, turn on
and
for extra accuracy —
is not used as you want to be hit to proc Decay, and start the fight. As long as you do not die to one single hit, you can hold eat and survive. Since Ahrenia heals when she uses the special Template:SpecialAttack attack, this will take some time and RNG to complete.

0.21 Made ITM Idleable
to be updated, jotting down rough information
A new change to the Mark of Death mechanic where a stack is removed after your attack turn. This allows you to never have reduced DR and can idle each phase of ITM. The dungeon is still not fully idle as there are forced pauses at boss phases and you must start each phase. You'll still want to follow prayer suggestions from other sections.
Mysterious Figure - Phase 1
You need a melee weapon that attacks faster than 2.6s, the attack speed of Mysterious Figure - Phase 1. You'll need to work out HP and DR such that you can survive a 600 damage max hit at 50% of your HP, as you need to account for maximum affliction stacks.
Mysterious Figure - Phase 2
You need a ranged weapon that attacks faster than 1.75s, the buffed attack speed of Mysterious Figure - Phase 1. You'll need to work out HP and DR such that you can survive a 772 damage max hit at 50% of your HP, as you need to account for maximum affliction stacks.
Ahrenia
Ahrenia has no change in idleability as there was no attack that reduced your DR.
