Crafting/Abyssal Training

From Melvor Idle

Uses

Abyssal Crafting creates Abyssal Ranged Armor such as the Brumia Legs. They can also be upgraded with Abyssal Bars and Harvesting materials to improve their stats. Crafting is the primary method to obtain Abyssal Ranged Armor aside from combat drops. The craftable Abyssal Ranged Armor generally can't be obtained from combat.

Abyssal Jewelry is useful for various combat bonuses. However, many of them can be obtained as monster drops in combat.

Finally, Abyssal Consumables provide buffs to combat and training. For example, Toxicity Consumable I is useful for Depths of Decay.

Training

Unlike the Melvor Realm, it is not possible to purchase crafting materials. Crafting materials are either slow to obtain (ex. Abyssal Leather and Abyssal Gems), or a high quantity is required per crafting action (ex. Abyssal Logs). Thus, it is helpful to maximize resource preservation chance to reduce the materials required.

For level 1-5, make Abyssal Leather Boots. The other Abyssal Leather items require more Abyssal Leather and don't provide significantly more XP.

For the rest of training, make Abyssal Armor crafted from Abyssal Logs. Unless you have an excess of Abyssal Logs, prefer crafting coifs. Legs require 2x the amount of logs and only provide ~10-20% more XP, while bodies require 3x the amount of logs and provide ~20-30% more XP.

Finally, you can make Abyssal Jewelry and Abyssal Consumables if you have the materials. For Jewelry, it's generally fine to spend all your materials crafting them, as you only need one of each unique type of Jewelry.

However, more care should be taken when deciding what Consumables to craft. Some of them have significant combat buffs which are almost required for clearing some dungeons. For example, Toxicity Consumable I is very useful for Depths of Decay. In general, given that Abycite is required for all Consumable recipes and is relatively limited, you should only craft Consumables you plan to use.

Skill Tree

Crafting uses a Skill Tree that provides powerful bonuses purchased with skill points earned on leveling up.

The 4 branches mostly contain the following bonuses per node:

  • A: +5% Crafting Abyssal XP
  • B: +5% Crafting Mastery XP for Abyssal Realm only
  • C: -5% cost to produce Abyssal Realm Items in Crafting
  • D: +5% chance to preserve Consumable Slot charges

The A branch, which boosts Crafting Abyssal XP gain, may be useful for early levels where the materials required for early levels are hard to gather (ex. Abyssal Leather), but the quantities of materials required per craft is low. Starting at level 5, when it is possible to make armor from Abyssal Logs, the C branch may be useful to reduce the significant material costs. Finally, note that the D branch is a global buff which benefits the Melvor Realm as well.
