Throne of the Herald/Guide

From Melvor Idle

Due to justified nerfs to Poison and Despair in Patch 1.3, the requirements and length of the fight has gone up.

Rewards

Harold - This pet has a ludicrous amount of bonuses for every aspect of the game.

Dungeon Mechanics

Similar to Into the Mist and Impending Darkness Event, this Dungeon consists of 3 boss phases, each tailored to a specific Combat Style. There will be a paused screen as soon as you enter the dungeon, and before each phase of the boss, where the player can read the boss's abilities and damage values. Unlike those dungeons, there are significantly less mechanics that dynamically change the amount of damage the boss can do, outside of the returning Affliction. Due to this it is generally easier to determine the circumstances in which the player can survive without manually eating. The third phase has a mechanic that instantly kills the player (by dealing about a million damage) if they fall below 90% HP.

Intimidation
Just like every other monster in the , The Herald has a passive effect that reduces the player's Damage Reduction. When in combat with The Herald, the player's base damage reduction is reduced by 44%, before any modifiers from the combat triangle.

Deja-Vu
This ability is found on all three phases of the boss, and is reminiscent of the passive immunities of Bane and Ahrenia. When the boss uses this ability, he becomes immune to all damage from combat styles different than his own for a few turns. This ability is designed to encourage the player to swap equipment sets actively to be able to deal damage, however, the boss generally does too much damage to not take advantage of the Combat Triangle increase to Damage Reduction, and this mechanic can be ignored if you can deal enough damage in between Deja-Vu effects.

Immunities
Each phase of The Herald is immune to stuns and freeze effects as has a 50% chance to avoid Burn, Bleed, Slow and Frostburn.

Each boss also heals 4% of its max HP every 2 turns.

Growing Madness
Every time the boss attacks, it gets faster and can deal more damage, with up to 50% reduced attack interval, and 50% increased Max Hit.

Manual Eating will be required to defeat Throne of the Herald with this Method. There are 2 options on how to Manual Eat:

  • Simply holding down the Eat button the entire Fight.
  • Reactionary Manual Eating, this is quite tricky as The Herald attacks quite fast.

(near) Superior Max Method

Requirements

Here, you will fight The Herald Phase 1. This phase uses Melee, so to make best use of the Combat Triangle, Magic will be the best bet.

This will require the following Skill Levels:

It will require a bunch of Pets too, if almost no Pets are obtained it is still possible to Idle this boss if Leonardo, Erran and Finn, the Cat are owned.

To shorten the fight time the clear time goes down from roughly 2 hours to 15 minutes if the following Pets are owned: Bouncing Bob, Peri, Otto, Ren,

Agility for all 3 phases

Phase 1

The following Enhancements:

Phase 2

Here, you will fight The Herald Phase 2. This phase uses Ranged so using Melee will be the best bet due to the Combat Triangle bonuses against Ranged.

The Phase can be fully Idled, it should take roughly 30 minutes ( 10 minutes if Astrology has been reached.).

The Palladium Onyx Ring should be equipped in the Passive Slot, this way you don't get the negative -1% DR when it's equipped in the Ring Slot.

This will require the following Skill Levels on top of the Phase 1 requirements:

  • Attack (skill).svg Level 120
  • Strength (skill).svg Level 120

The following Enhancements:

Phase 3

Here, you will fight The Herald. This phase uses Magic, so to make best use of the combat triangle, Ranged would be ideal. However, since this fight is impossible to idle no matter what, the guide will default to a skill that does not have its damage reduced when manually eating, Magic!

This fight is different from the others. The Herald has a special unavoidable attack Sealed Fate which instantly kills the player if they are below 90% health when it activates. This means this phase cannot be idled, and the player must pay attention to the fight in order to heal themselves to full HP when the boss is using the attack and keep themselves alive for all other attacks. Remember that the boss will be attacking very quickly due to Reign over Time.

When Manual Eating this boss there are 2 choices of how to do this.

  • You can apply Reaction Manual Eating, Eating only when needed, after The Herald hits you, you hit The Herald then you Eat before The Herald hits again. This gets nearly impossible to do effectively at highh stacks of "Reign over TIme"
  • Just hold the eat button the entire fight.

The Herald does not apply stacks of Affliction, which does make things easier.

The Phase should last roughly 30 minutes, 5 minutes if Ashtar is fully maxed.

The Yak SynergyIcon.png Dragon will prevent Burn from doing any damage, saving you a lot of Manual Eating or risk of Death.

The following Enhancements:

Ancient Relics

Due to the nature of Ancient Relics, this mode is a lot more powerful than it's standard counterpart.

The Standard Method here works just fine for this mode, however it can be done with much less gear and Levels in Ancient Relics Mode

This method will require the following Relics numbers to be obtained:

Much like the previous Cheese Method, there are 2 ways of Eating, Reaction Manual Eating - Eating whenever Damage is taken, or just holding "Enter" on the Eat button (only possible on PC). You need to double click the word "Food" in-game, then press tab, this will allow you to hold "Enter" for the entire fight. Do notice that the popup for Harold at the final Kill of Phase 3 will not Show up this way.

This will require the following Skill Levels:

  • Herblore (skill).svg Level 90 or Cartography (skill).svg Level 90 for Damage Reduction Potion IV
  • Agility (skill).svg Level 99
  • Astrology (skill).svg Level 99
  • Defence (skill).svg Level 112
  • Attack (skill).svg Level 112
  • Ranged (skill).svg Level 112
  • Runecrafting (skill).svg Level 114
  • Hitpoints (skill).svg Level 115
  • Magic (skill).svg Level 115
  • Summoning (skill).svg Level 90
  • Prayer (skill).svg Level 118
  • Slayer (skill).svg Level 118

Agility for all 3 Phases

Phase 1 & 2

There is no need to swap equipment between Phase 1 and Phase 2, Swapping Minotaur to Centaur is highly suggested for slightly faster kills.

Optional If Bleed Burner Cape is obtained, equip this instead of Ancient Infernal Cape for less healing interruptions and thus faster kills.
